2 weeks Indo

22 augustus 2013 - Lombok, Indonesië

Salam, apa kabar?

That's the same as: "Hey, how you going? But then in Indonesia ofcourse:)
I decided to write my BlogPost in English now, so everyone can understand it.

Well anyway, last Wednesday I flew into Bali from Syney and at the airport, after arriving with 2h delay, there was a guy with my name on a sign and he brought me to the hotel. Really nice hotel called: Uns Hotel. I have to say I had such a BIG culture shock!!! Coming from Australia to Bali, that was too much for my mind and I needed at least 2 days to get over it. I actually wanted to book my flight to home earlier, but in the end I stayed and that's probs my best decision ever:):):):)

The next day I had breakfast and met 2 guys, including Benji Weatherly (pro surfer for Billabong back in the days). We started talking and went surfing together at Padma Beach in Kuta! Easy going waves. First we had to drive there, so I was sitting at the back of the scooter and the traffic is CRAZY! Everybody is constantly taking over and use there horns (is that a word? Dutch: toeter). Again something to add on my Culture Shock list... The food is btw also different, but it's good and CHEAP! We had such good Mexican food but also heaps of Indo food.
In the afternoon I went again in the water and met a Aussie guy from Newcastle and his gf from Argentina and a Dutch guy. After a couple minutes we had the idea to have dinner together and I spent the rest of the days with them. Surfing at Kuta Reef, Padma Beach and chilling out:). The couple was staying with a Indo friend, so I saw a typical Indo home and it was full of Buddhas, birds and ornaments. Really cool to see! I'm gonna stay there this weekend with them before I'm going home. We're going to Ubud and I wanna go to Seminyak, cause when I booked my ticket I got a free voucher for a free spa treatment, so I need to use it of course and I wanna buy my Mikoh Swimwear over there!

After staying at Uns Hotel I was staying with Pieterjan (the Dutch guy) in an other hostel, we had just a room with only a matress, a sheet, cold shower and well pretty small and stuff but it was alright, a cold shower is actually really good:)
Pieterjan drove the scooter and because he's already in Indo for almost 4 months I was pretty safe. Normally you don't need to wear a helmet if you're sitting at the back but the cops here are pissheads and are giving you fines for every single thing. Even when you've used the wrong indicator or something like that and they just keep the money themselves... Corruption, it's crazy! It's better to just drive away when he's whistling to you.

On Saturday Pieterjan and I went with the motorbike to Ulu Watu. The place is so BEAUTIFUL!!!! Such a beautiful surfbreak, to big for me but anyway, we stayed there the whole day and had a look at the Monkeytemple and walked around. Later we went to Padang Padang, again a really nice beach and some good waves!
That day we booked our flight to Lombok as well. Ryan was saying I should get as soon as possible out of Kuta Bali and he is right. LOMBOK IS THE BEST!!!!
We arrived here on Monday, met two really nice German girls and had such a paradise feeling at the beach close to Kuta Lombok. I had finally my first fresh coconut and MY GOD it's the best:) I wish the bottles from the supermarket (jumbo) I'm sometimes buying were like that!
Anyway we we're relaxing, went for a walk and had a good day. In the evening we met two Dutch guys and we hanged out at the beach, with a campfire and a Bintang:)

I had a massage here in Lombok btw and dammit that hurts haha. Well it was ok untill the moment she was standing on my back... But in the end it was probably good for my muscles! I need to do a Fish Spa as well actually, it's so cheap here, like 2,50euros.
I had btw a hard time with calculating the money haha. From  Rupiah to Aussie bucks and then to Euros. But I got it now of course:)

The next day (Tuesday), Pieterjan and I went to Grupuk to surf at the Insight wave. You've got different surfbreaks out there, but Outsight Right and Left were way to big for us and quite dangerous with the reef!! The boat took us out in the water and O MY GOD, WAuW, the surfing was sooooo good. I thought I wasn't improving at all in OZ, but I def did!!! I had so many good and clean waves. Toooo STOkED!! We surfed for three hours and we had the best time. My paddling is so much better then my first week I started in OZ, so paddling back was easy:)
In the aftenoon we went again and wauw I Love Lombok!!!!

At Wednesday we woke up at 06:00h and went to Grupuk again, but now with Anna(German) and Tony(Dutch). Anna had a GoProCamera, so we instructed on my board and wauw  I'm gonna buy one as well! It's so cool and again the surfing went good, but not as good as yesterday.
In the afternoon we went with the scooter up in the hills. It's so beautiful out here and really cool to drive, cause I was drivibg this time. Sooooo pretty!!! I was saying before I'll be back in Australia within 3/4 yrs, but I'll be def back in Lombok as well on that trip!!! Woooohooo so relaxed to be here!

Wednesdaynight was the worst night. I didn't get any sleep and woke up feeling sick. Yep, I had the Indo infection.. First I wanted to go surfing, but instead I couldn't do anything so I stayed in bed with really bad cramps in my stomach... After a aspirine, some sleep and heaps water I still felt like shit.. Later we had breakfast and I was too tired to eat and when I walked back everything was foggy in my sight.. I thought I would fall down, but I made it to my bed and slept again for 2h. After that I felt better and we went to Mawi. Sitting at the back of the scooter was not really nice, but when we finally arrived, it was all worth it! It's such a beautiful place!!! There was no swell and low tide, but still it was a beauty! I totally relaxed there and the pain was sort of gone. If anyone is stressed from work or anything, just book a ticket to Lombok and you'll feel better immediately. (Unless you're getting ill of course:)).
In the end it was a good day.

Tomorrow I'll fly back to Bali and gonna enjoy my last three days of my trip. And then it's time to go home. This will be my last blogpost!
In the end this is def the best thing I've ever done alone in my life so far and I can not wait to safe money again for a trip to Australia. Or who knows I can do an intership there, but we'll see!

Thanks everyone for having me, being good to me, supported me and for the replies on my posts:) much appreciated! I'm grateful that I had such a good trip and I met so many nice people.

I really do hope you wear a crash helmet. The fatal accident there is when the driver has to brake and you fly over him and land on your head! It's more dangerous to tavel on the back of a scooter without a helmet then surfing 3m waves.
    Have fun and enjoy Bali,

Selamat datang,Eva Apa khabar? Groeten,Harrie Cleven
